Time: 30 Minutres to prepare, 3 minutes to use
Equipment:
Pens & coloured pencils
Books or internet to source further ideas
Laminator
Ring clip, carabiner or string
Instructions:
Introduce the activity: to create a small booklet of reflections that can be used by Guides at Opening/Closing ceremonies, or other ceremonies such as Guides Owns.
Cut and laminate the pre-prepared ideas from the template (should be A6 - best done double sided)
Then provide Guides the opportunity to create their own reflections, by writing prayers or quotes that they find meaningful onto the blank pages and decorating. They might like to search for ideas in books or on the internet.
Laminate Guides reflections and punch holes into the top corner of all prepared pages. Clip/Tie together, and keep on hand for when they are needed. Idea: You could make one set for the unit, or one for each patrol.
Hint: My Guides assign someone to share a reflection during the opening of each meeting.
Hint: We add to our reflection collection every year or so, giving an opportunity for Guides to add new thoughts, and swapping out some of the templates so we get to hear different reflections each meeting.
